What do you seek out when choosing a place to get your eye care and to have your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses filled? At EyeCare Associates of San Bernardino, we provide expert service, attention to your individual needs, high quality lens craftsmanship done right here on site, and our 1 hour prescription lenses in Highland.

We’re pleased to offer a wide array of designer frames for you to choose from when getting a new or updated eyeglass prescription. No matter what your taste, budget, or facial type, we have something that will be just perfect for you. Among the immediately recognizable names that you’ll find here are Revlon, DKNY, Ray Ban, Harley-Davidson, Tommy Bahama, and Joseph Abboud. Add in a variety of colors, styles, and shapes and you have a selection that is bound to meet with your approval. Of course, your frames aren’t much use without the lenses that go in them to improve your eyesight. Our opticians are highly skilled and you can be sure that your prescription lenses will correct your farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia. If you need bifocals or multifocals, that’s also something we can do easily with our 1 hour prescription lenses in Highland.

Of course, you might also choose contact lenses. And why not? Today’s contacts are more comfortable and provide better vision than the ones made even 5 years ago. Hard lenses are often the best choice for severe nearsightedness or astigmatism and they provide the sharpest and clearest vision of all contacts. Soft lenses come in four basic types and are generally the easiest to become accustomed to. Color-changing contacts let you try on a completely different eye color and you can get them with our without prescription eyesight correction. The other types are all for improving your vision and meet the needs of your lifestyle and preferences. They include daily wear, extended wear, and disposable. All can be had as part of our 1 hour prescription lenses in Highland.

If it has been longer than a year since your last eye exam, please call us to schedule one with our optometrist. In addition to determining your current need for eyeglasses or contacts, it’s also important to be screened for common eye diseases like cataracts and glaucoma. It’s all part of our full service that includes our 1 hour prescription lenses in Highland.

San Bernardino Eye Exams

No matter what your age or how clear you vision may be, adults and children alike need to be having their eyes examined at least once a year. For those of us who do live with a vision problem, these examinations work to insure that the prescription you need to see clearly is always up to date. In the past, it was thought that vision problems stopped getting worse when our eyes stopped growing. However, the same technology we rely on for work and school can also cause harm to our eyes, causing prescriptions to change year after year. These exams also include state of the art testing for optical diseases which can exist for years without showing symptoms, and can occur to anyone regardless of how perfect your vision may appear to be. Fortunately, you can always find the care you need with both eye exams for both eyeglasses and contact lenses with your trusted optometrist in San Bernardino.

Getting the Right Frames for you

Buying the Right Type of Eyeglass Frames

Getting the Right Fit

The sunglass size should be in proportion with the face size. This means that smaller sunglasses are best for smaller faces; larger sunglasses for larger faces. The frame shape should contrast with, that is, be the opposite of, the shape of the face.

These tips must not be taken as rules but they can help you to choose your right frame.

Oval Face

Almost any style works for oval face. Experiment with the latest looks, such as wraparounds or shields. Square shaped frames with gently rounded edges and higher temples also look good on an oval face.
Frame suggestions : Any frame shape

Round Face

Frames should make the face appear longer and thinner. In general, look for frames equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face. Minimize the curves and add definition with soft, angular, rectangular styles or double brow styles. Higher temples will create a longer profile. Sunglasses with brow bars also pull the eye upward, making the face appear longer.
Frame suggestions : Wider frames with angular / rectangular styles

Diamond Shape

This face shape has wide or high cheekbones with a narrow forehead and chin. Oval sunglasses will soften the contour of the face, although softly curved square frames will work as well. Make sure the styles are no wider than the top of the cheekbones.
Frame suggestions : Oval, Square, Rimless

Square Face

This face shape consists of a strong jawline, a broad forehead and wide cheekbones. Reduce the angles with soft, curvy styles that will give the face some definition such as cat-eye styles. The classic ovals also works well for this face shape.
Frame suggestions : Oval, Round, Cat Eyes

Oblong Face

Widen and shorten the face with sunglass styles that do not extend beyond the widest part of the face. Round or square shapes will look great on this face. Frames with short horizontal and long vertical lines also work. Decorative or contrasting temples add width to the face.
Frame suggestions : Round, Square

Triangle Shape

This face has a narrow jaw and a wide forehead. Soften the lower portion of the face by accenting the eye area. Styles such as cat- eyes should angle outward at the top corner and be wide enough to balance the jawline. You can also try metal frames with rimless bottoms.
Frame suggestions : Frames with a Straight Top Line, Cat Eyes

COMPLIMENTARY COLORING

Complexion or skin tone is very relevant when selecting a color frame and the final appearance of the glasses. There are so many colors available today. The paler the complexion the more obvious a bright or dark frame will be, such as making a statement. The reverse is also true for darker complexions. You have to decide whether you wish to make a statement or have your glasses blend in with your skin tone.

Are you warm or cool?

Skin tone is the prime element in determining coloring. All complexions fall into one of two color bases — blue (cool) or yellow (warm). A cool complexion has blue or pink undertones, and a warm complexion has a “peaches and cream” or yellow cast. Olive skin is considered cool because it is a mixture of blue and yellow. In the United States , about 60 percent of the population is “cools.”

Eye colors are usually a secondary element in determining coloring because of the wide range of eye colors. For example, blue eyes can range from a cool almost-violet to a pale blue-gray, which is warm. Brown eyes can vary from a light cider shade (warm) through a medium-brown to a cool almost-black.

Hair colors are also considered warm or cool. Strawberry blond, platinum, blue-black, white, salt-and-pepper and “dishwater” brown are cool. Warm hair colors include golden blond, flat black, brown-gold, “carrot” and “dirty” gray.
Hair styles can also be considered when selecting glasses.

Soft & Curly – Enhanced by delicate shapes, rimless frames and translucent colors
Very Curly – Choose a frame that follows your hairline. Classic small frames are advisable
Short – Geometric frames, or rounder frames look best
Very Short – Bold colors and designs, as well as decorative styles
Long Hair -Try the frames with both your hair up and down, as the change in style may alter the look of the frames

Eye Frame Color

Once you have determined if you are “warm” or “cool,” then you can find the eyeglass frame colors that will suit you the best. Some examples of frame colors best for warm coloring are: camel, khaki, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, off-white, fire-engine red, warm blue and blond tortoise. For cool coloring, the best eyeglass frame hues are black, rose-brown, blue-gray, plum, magenta, pink, jade, blue and demi-amber (darker) tortoise.
